What is B Tech (Bachelor of Technology)?
Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) is a professional undergraduate engineering degree programme awarded to candidates after completion of four years of study in the field. This undergraduate programme is your gateway to a career in engineering.
In India, a B.Tech degree is offered across various specializations. Some of the more prominent ones are as follows:

While all these specializations offer bright prospects for students to get into different careers, computer science engineering is probably one of the most sought after nowadays. In India, all technical programmes such as B.Tech fall under the regulatory purview of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Admissions to B.Tech programmes take place through national level/state-level/institute-level engineering entrance examinations. The Bachelors in Engineering (BE) degree programme also offers a similar orientation to students as the one offered by a B.Tech programme. What is the difference between a BE and B.Tech degree?
The key difference between these two degree programmes is with respect to the course material taught and the orientation of the programme.

There are typically two kinds of an engineering programme:
- 3-year BE/B.Tech after Diploma in Engineering
- 4-year BE/B.Tech after Class 12
The four year programme offers more rigors to students and covers more with respect to depth of curriculum.

Eligibility Criteria for BE/B.Tech
The basic eligibility requirement for admissions to any B.Tech programme is:
- Candidates must have passed Class 10+2 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects.
- They must also have secured minimum aggregate marks of 60% in the above subjects combined.
